Thriving on a transatlantic connection, both Isle of Harris Distillery and MISA Imports have met personally and toured the USA whilst strengthening the relationship that they have built online over the past year.

Following on from the successful launch in May 2021, Isle of Harris Gin is now available in 11 states in the United States with their recent trips acquiring several new accounts particularly in New York City.

International Brand manager, Iona Cairns and Drinks Industry Specialist, Peter Mooney spent time with MISA Imports across four states whilst promoting the IOHD overseas.

They visited various stockists, restaurants, and shops, building relationships and providing training to enhance knowledge of the distillery overseas.

Their first trip was brought to a finish in traditional Harris manner: a Ceilidh in the New York home of Lorenzo Bakewell-Stone, son of the distillery’s founder, Anderson Bakewell.

The evening brought together those who have supported the distillery’s journey to the US. Local musicians, Alasdair White (Isle of Lewis) and Cameron Macdougall (Nigg) provided the entertainment while guests enjoyed Harris G&T’s.

On their most recent trip, Iona and Peter joined Coinneach Macleod, The Hebridean Baker, as he launched his book on an American tour. The collaboration of Isle of Harris Gin and The Hebridean Baker was showcased across New Jersey and New York.

Isle of Harris Distillery are looking to expand their US community and friends, encouraging anyone based there or with relatives to get in touch and to also sign up for their US newsletter to stay connected as they continue to share the distillery story. It is through personal relationships and connections that Isle of Harris Distillers will continue to share their story in the US.

The IOHD US website and newsletter provides the latest stockist information, forthcoming Isle of Harris Gin events and other news.
