Four cafes in the Isle of Lewis have been awarded 2022 Travellers’ Choice awards on Tripadvisor – and they are all on the west side of the island.

The Travellers’ Choice award is based on customer reviews garnered during the year, with five-star ratings ensuring a high place in the ‘best of’ list.

Travellers worldwide use Tripadvisor to choose where to eat, stay and enjoy local experiences at their holiday destination.

In Lewis, their café choices include The Wobbly Dog café at Lionel, described as ‘wonderful’, ‘delightful’ and ‘a must see’ when in the islands.

Visitors also chose the café at Comunn Eachdraidh Nis for ‘obliging staff and first class food’ and The Breakwater at Port of Ness for ‘amazing’ pizza, fish and chips and lentil soup – as well as piping hot coffee.

Not to be left out, The Edge Café at Gallan Head also got a Travellers’ Choice award and was described as ‘an absolute gem of a place.’

Among restaurants, there’s an award for Uig Sands Restaurant in Timsgarry, scoring high for excellent food and stunning views.

And in Stornoway the Harbour Kitchen, Boatshed Restaurant, HS-1 café bar and the Crown Inn all score as Travellers’ Choice.

The listings are welcome endorsement for businesses who have battled through circumstances to get the show back on the road after lockdown.
