Talla Na Mara has put out a call to local artists to donate a postcard-sized piece of artwork for the fundraising Island Art for Giving 2023 exhibition.

The first Island Art for Giving event in 2020 raised £2500 for local charities thanks to the generosity of artists from Harris, Lewis, and beyond.

Now a second exhibition is planned for next June in aid of Bethesda Hospice and the West Harris Trust Beach Access Fund.

Artists can donate up to five postcard-sized pieces of their original artwork. The money raised from the sale of the artwork will go to the two beneficiaries.

Alongside the physical exhibition in Talla Na Mara, the artwork will also be displayed and for sale in an online gallery.

Talla Na Mara, who is waiving their sales commission, said of the exhibition: “This will be a great opportunity to promote your own work and, at the same time, raise funds for worthy causes here on Lewis and Harris. All contributing artists will be acknowledged throughout the exhibition and online, and you may provide your contact details/ website details about your art practice which can be used online.”

As 2022 has been Scotland’s Year of Stories, the theme of the 2023 exhibition fundraiser is Island Stories. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, March 30.
