The acclaimed Arainneachd Alainn environment exhibition in the former Lochmaddy School will open three days a week for the summer season.

North Uist Development Company has announced the exhibition will open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Entry is free, but donations are welcomed.

Arainneachd Alainn is an interactive environmental exhibition presented by North Uist Development Company.

Arainneachd Alainn maps out the 400 million years of geological history that has shaped present-day Uist. It tells the dynamic environmental story of the islands ‘on the edge’ and their distinctive natural heritage.

Wall panels and audiovisuals introduce the diverse natural heritage of Uist, from the surrounding waters and marine life to the essence of the land.

Hands-on specimens showcase geological rarities dating back 400 million years and recount the three billion years of Earth’s history that brought us the Outer Hebrides.
