A Uist and Barra community art project has issued an appealed for old wellies.

Wellies that have outlived their usefulness will be repurposed during the school summer holidays. It is planned to breathe new life into the ubiquitous island footwear by decorating them and using them as planters.

The woman behind the project is Maria Steele, who says the wellies can be collected or handed over at an accessible drop-off point. Wellies of any size can be dropped at Cothrom in South Uist.
