Applications are now being invited for funding from Tasgadh (Investing) which provides support for individual artists and organisations to create, perform, tour and showcase Scottish traditional arts.

Friday 21 June is the first of three deadlines in 2024-25.  Maoin nan Ealan Gàidhlig (the Gaelic Arts Fund) is also open for applications with Friday 28 June, the first of two deadlines.

Fèisean nan Gàidheal will continue to administer the two devolved funds - Tasgadh and Maoin nan Ealan Gàidhlig - both with the support of The National Lottery through Creative Scotland, and Bòrd na Gàidhlig contributing an additional sum to support Gaelic arts through the latter.

In all, £36,500 is available to distribute through Tasgadh, open to applicants with a proven track record in Scottish traditional dance, storytelling or music.  Awards of between £250 and £1,000 are available and past successful projects include music classes and workshops, dance development and collaborations, composition of new music, tours, personal development projects, internships and festivals.

While Friday 21 June is the first deadline, there will be two further rounds for Tasgadh with closing dates of 25 October 2024 and 31 January 2025 for applications.

Karen Dick, Head of Place, Partnerships and Communities at Creative Scotland said: “We are very happy to continue our support for Tasgadh and Maoin nan Ealan Gàidhlig, delivered through Fèisean nan Gàidheal.  We are pleased that Bòrd na Gàidhlig is also continuing their support for Maoin nan Ealan Gàidhlig.  These two funding programmes are crucial for artists and creative organisations working in across traditional arts and Gaelic arts and culture, and in the languages of Scotland.  Made possible by National Lottery funding, the programmes provide opportunities to develop skills and creative work, and access to creativity and culture for audiences across Scotland.”

There is £75,000 to distribute through Maoin nan Ealan Gàidhlig (the Gaelic Arts Fund), made up of £45,000 from The National Lottery through Creative Scotland - which established the fund - and an additional £30,000 from Bòrd na Gàidhlig.  The fund is to assist Gaelic arts initiatives with priority given to projects delivered through the medium of Gaelic or which contribute to Gaelic learning and use.  There are two deadlines for applications to Maoin nan Ealan Gàidhlig - Friday 28th June and Friday 15th November 2024.

Arthur Cormack, Chief Executive of Fèisean nan Gàidheal, commented: "Fèisean nan Gàidheal is very happy to collaborate with Creative Scotland and Bòrd na Gàidhlig to make funding available to artists as well as arts and community organisations.  Tasgadh and Maoin nan Ealan Gàidhlig are popular sources of funding.  The two schemes benefit from a simple application process and a response within a month of the deadline dates for applications and we aim to ensure they continue to enable arts activities to take place across Scotland.”
