The deadline for applying for a postal vote in relation to the coming UK General Election is Wednesday 19 June at 5pm.

For those electors who applied for a postal vote earlier in June, postal vote packs will be issued on Wednesday 26 June.

Electors who are going to be away from home between 26 June to 4 July 2024, are encouraged to apply for a proxy vote, which allows someone else to cast their vote.

The deadline for applying for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024.

You can only apply for a proxy vote under certain circumstances, including:

  • being away on polling day
  • being registered as an overseas voter
  • having a medical issue or disability
  • not being able to vote in person because of work or military service

Your proxy should be someone you trust to vote on your behalf. You’ll need to tell them which candidate you want to vote for.

For the full list of candidates see the election poll article below
